A Quick Guide to the Heart of the Himalayas

A Moderate Yet Rewarding Trek:

The Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) Short Trek is a moderately challenging adventure, ideal for physically fit beginners as well as experienced trekkers looking for a shorter Himalayan journey. The trail gradually ascends through traditional Gurung and Magar villages, winding paths, and stone staircases, allowing trekkers to acclimatize naturally. While sections near Bamboo, Deurali, and Machhapuchhre Base Camp can be steep, every step offers breathtaking scenery. Dense rhododendron forests, alpine meadows, and glacial landscapes create a truly memorable experience. With Mountain Eco Treks’ expert guides and support team, travelers can enjoy a safe and smooth journey throughout the trek.

Duration and Itinerary:

The short version of the Annapurna Base Camp Trek typically takes 6–7 days, although some travelers prefer a slower pace of 8–10 days to include additional rest and acclimatization. Along the route, trekkers pass through picturesque villages, cascading waterfalls, and terraced farmlands, gradually making their way to the heart of the Annapurna Sanctuary. Each day is designed to balance adventure and relaxation, with comfortable lodges providing warmth and rest after long trekking hours. Mountain Eco Treks ensures that every detail of the itinerary is carefully planned to deliver the best experience with both safety and comfort in mind.

Best Seasons to Visit

The ideal time for the ABC Short Trek is during the pre-monsoon (March–May) and post-monsoon (September–November) seasons. In spring, vibrant rhododendron blooms add color and beauty to the trail, while autumn offers crisp air, clear skies, and spectacular mountain views, perfect for photographers and nature enthusiasts. Monsoon season, from June to August, is less suitable due to slippery trails and limited visibility. Winter, from December to February, can be extremely cold at higher altitudes, making trekking more challenging.

The Annapurna Base Camp Short Trek combines adventure, natural beauty, and cultural experiences into a compact yet unforgettable journey. Trekkers have the opportunity to explore remote Gurung villages, witness awe-inspiring Himalayan panoramas, and experience the serenity of the Annapurna Sanctuary without committing to a long and physically demanding trek. BEST AGENCY if looking to hike Annapurna / Everest Base Camp / Langtang!!!

30th October, 2019

My friends and I hiked the Annapurna Base Camp trek and really enjoyed our experience. Our guide was super fun and knowledgeable, the logistics were perfectly planned by the agency (accommodation, transport, etc), the price was fair, and we always felt that we could go at our own pace without feeling rushed. I'm planning to come back again to do Everest Base Camp and will for sure reach out to this agency again.

Annapurna Base Camp - AMAZING LIFETIME EXPERIENCE

29th November, 2018

I got in contact with Dev before leaving for Nepal. He made sure I was well welcomed in Nepal and organized my pick up arrival with his brother as he was trekking.

We then met in Bhaktapur while I was traveling and drank a nice tea together.

He organized my bus tickets to Pokhara from Kathmandu and return which was really helpful. He came to the bus station with me to make sure everything went well.

We then met in Pokhara for the trek. Dev was very flexible as I brought along with me two friends who joined the trek.
We had the best time with him, his son, and our porter Bijaya He really created a familial and safe space during the whole trek.
Singing, dancing, and eating well was our daily program along with long hours of walking of course.I would send all of my friends to Dev. He knows every corner of every tour.
Not to mention that he saved people during the trek when a snowstorm hit Deurali and further to ABC. He made sure we were fine all the time.
Thank you so much Dev.
Best regards,

Unforgettable trip in the world of mountains!

18th October, 2019

In the end of September 2018, we (a group of 3 young women) decided to take the opportunity to be in Nepal to do a trip to the Annapurna Basecamp in the heart of the Himalayas.
Well, what shall I say - it became one of the best things I've ever experienced in all my life. Not only that nature is so stunningly beautiful and the atmosphere in the mountains itself is wonderful - but also that we had Dev as our guide made this week of trekking an immense gift to us. I can only highly recommend Dev! If you want, he explains everything about the Napli culture to you, he is always very polite and ready to help you.
thank you so much Dev for this wonderful week!

CLAUDIA LEHMANN

11th October, 2022

I and five other friends emailed the company mountain eco treks to do the Annapurna base camp in October 2022. and we got the answers we wanted as quickly as possible. They were professional the entire time and everything went according to plan. Also, the guide with us on our journey was Bhakta Bahadur Tamang. He was very experienced and trustworthy. He really cared about taking care of us, we felt happy and safe around him. It is very difficult to get a room on the Annapurna trail in the October season as there are many tourists but our guide managed it easily as he is a popular person in that area.
Overall our trip was unforgettable and memorable. We especially want to thank our guide, Bhakta, for taking care of our food, water, and our safety needs.
I leave with a promise to meet again on another adventure

Amazing guide !

15th September, 2019

Dev was a very careful and patient guide. He made sure we were always comfortable during the trek and took care of most of the organization. His knowledge of the trek path and villages along the way improved the experience as we really immersed ourselves into the Annapurna spirit. Dev became a friend. Would 100% recommend this guide either for solo or group treks
